"Homemade" Easter Sentiments

A nice lady came to the coffee shop today and asked me if I was going to make some Easter cards. I was somewhat planning on doing that, but I realized that I should start right away then, since Easter is in less than 2 weeks! Wait a second, wasn't just Christmas a little while ago?! 

So I ran to Hobby Lobby to get some Easter stamps. I could have so well ordered some online, had I thought about it just a bit earlier! 

I eyed some cute/not-so-expensive Easter stamps a while ago in the Easter section, but I didn't buy them, as I wasn't so sure I was going to do enough Easter Cards. I got there and the stamps were nowhere to be found. A lady who worked there told me :"They are gone for a LONG time!" "Yeah", I thought, "REAL card makers buy their stamps ON TIME!"  There were other Easter Stamps, but I just couldn't bring myself to give 9 bucks for a rubber stamp that says "Happy Easter". My computer even can say "Happy Easter" in 3 programs!! Hey...wait a second...

I got home and sat at my computer right away. I played with fonts, sizes, text and I came up with some Easter sentiments that I, hey, kinda like! 

I would like to share them with you. In case you haven't found the "perfect" Easter wording or you still need to make some Easter cards, you can have these sentiments, if you like them! 

I'm posting a photo here, but if you contact me, I'll send you the PowerPoint file. You can move them from one document to another, change their size, print them. 

This is how I print  a sentiment on dp or cardstock:

~ I print on a regular printer paper first;

~ I adhere the paper {I need my sentiment on} with double-sided sticky tape right over the first one (I doesn't have to be as big, it can be only a little bit, right over the sentiment);

~ I run the papers together through the printer again;

~ I cut or punch around the sentiment.

Maybe there are more sophisticated "stamp making" programs out there and I am gonna find out. But for now, this works great for me.

Today I ruined a kid's card trick, by guessing it right away AND jumping for joy for being able to do that. I feel so bad...what kind of person does that??!! 

The time of the butterfly

Dawn McVey has another Color Challenge: Raspberry Suite Color Challenge 2! 

Her style inspired me to use a damask design paper, although not her own...I have been eyeing Papertrey Ink website for quite a while now, I think it's time to buy something! :-)

The colors of challenge are such a good combination. I loved playing with them.

I have had screaming purple and blinding yellow combination in my head for quite some time. Today I felt daring enough to throw these colors on a card!

The lady that had the garage sale full of designer paper called me again. I might go and look through her stash one more time, just to make sure I didn't overlook something! :-)

Kristina Werner's Color and Mojo Monday's Sketch

Following a sketch challenge and a color challenge for a card is the best of both worlds. You have the sketch, you have the colors, all you have to do is put it together! :-) Ha ha, it sounds easier than it is :-)

This is the first time I follow two challenges at one time. I always wanted to have either the colors or the sketch as my own. Today I chose the road of humbleness, letting myself be guided by both shape and color. :-) 

The card is 5 x5 in. The paper is Stampin' Up! Delicate Dots Collection. I used dew drops from Robin's Nest, border punch from Fiskars, brown ink from Stampabilities.

I made this card to lure my Mojo back! He (?!)'s been sleeping somewhere outside, under the blooming trees and warm breeze of Spring. 

By chance, I saw this fancy ribbon on sale yesterday and I thought to myself: what if I made a bold and bright card?

~ Ribbon: I bought it by yard and, silly me, I didn't look up the manufacturer;

Spring is here!

The notion of "Spring" is relative in southern Texas. :-) It gets from somewhat warm to quite warm. :-) The Satsuma tree in our front yard is blooming and that is making us very happy. 

No complaining, though. In the country I come from, it's still snowing! :-) 

I made this card for Karen Giron's Sweet Sunday Sketch. I dug in the new paper that I got lately, from Stampin' Up! and from THAT serendipitious garage sale and I hope I made a card that truly inspired the feeling of spring.

Dawn's Color Challenge - Inauguration!

The guests left! Phew! Just kidding! We had a great time. 

We did quite a few fun things, like going to the beach, to the Country Fair, to Houston...and having great talks. My friends are smart, you know :-)  

I did peek once or twice in my craft room hoping to have time to make a card soon! That time has come today! I was pleasantly surprised to see that Dawn McVey, whose blog I check everyday, has started a Color Challenge! 

I played along and I decided to make something nice for out new neighbors, pastor Cedric and his wife Naysha. They invited over for dinner last night. We had an amazing King Ranch Chicken Casserole and a delicious salad with avocado and strawberries. I am usually reserved with "strangers", but Cedric's enthusiasm infected us! We laughed so hard I was afraid the other neighbors are gonna come over with complaints! 

I made a card with a Bible verse on it and I transformed an Altoid tin box into a favor container.

Message in a Bottle

I am jumping for joy: because I have friends that would drive through all these states to come and visit me! 

I will not be able to make a "real" post this week because I have some sweet awesome great amazing friends guests. I am green with envy with everyone out there who can hold a full time job, be part of four design teams, take care of the house AND find time to work in the craft room. Because I am definitely NOT one of them. 

I'll keep an eye on wonderful creations though and collect ideas. 

I realized that a break actually brings more energy and desire!

Crying over spilled Lasagna

Today at work we prepared Lasagna. My pain started when the girls served it by scooping...SCOOPING it in big blobs in on the plate. I could almost cry. 

For us, Europeans, serving Lasagna in a mess of pasta and sauce is like Italians would serve hamburgers taken fresh out of the blender. It just doesn't work.

So, I guarded the oven and made sure I was the only one cutting pieces of lasagna and placing them on the plate in a neat stack of pasta and sauce, like it should be!

I have been working on decorating some frames. I made one in blue with a picture of my husband as a baby. I am so convinced out kids are going to be so cute, because he was the same! I will soon make one in pink with  picture of me from 30 something years ago. :-) 

I made another shadow box in spring colors. I took an unfinished shadow box from Hobby Lobby, painted it in Melon and decorated it with designer paper, sticker letters and paper flowers. I love it! :-)

One of my best friends from high school, Maria, comes to visit us this coming weekend. After we went to college, we wrote a letter or two, but we lost touch. Fifteen years later I googled her name and it came up at a counseling clinic in Illinois. We talked a lot on the phone since then and we finally are going to see each other again. I am so excited!  

  

Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration #44

This week's colors Kristina has for her Challenge spelled one thing in my mind: BABY CARD! :-) 

So I went to make one. This time, I took more time to think it over, to make sure it's balanced, in short I concentrated more on details, which is not like me too much. When I don't recognize their merit, details wear me out like nothing else. But in this case, details make or break a card, so I decided to give them more credit.

Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration #43 ~ Take 2!

Good morning, paper craft warriors!! 

Because it's a war out there, against all the thoughts that paper won't last against the time. Look at all the hand-written books from Aristotle's age, look at all those manuscripts discovered in the dirt of Dead Sea, they survived to tell the story. 

Someone, somewhere, in a 1000 years, will dust a hand-made card and marveled at an unknown genius' creativity. 

{I'm just having my morning coffee, so please understand I'm not being quite myself...yet! :-) }

This weekend I've been on a roll with the Color Challenge. Not particularly inspired, but motivated. Why can't those two come together, for once? I bet, for the next Challenge, I'll have plenty of inspiration, but no motivation....:-)
