Life starts at 50!

I still remember my first KWerner Color Challenge...it was thirty something. I skipped a few, but I must admit, I made quite a few cards inspired from the weekly colors :-)

For this card I ventured out more with my new Silhouette. I am not a big fan of intricate cutting patterns, but I love being able to cut different shapes and borders.

I have two sympathy cards for today. I have been feeling sick today, so I poured my "suffering" into few serious and compassionate cards. 

Now it hit me: why didn't I feel compelled to make some "Hope you get to feelin' better!" cards?! 

The first one is a blunt copy/tribute to one of the best card makers (IMHO) out there: Julie Cameron (doesn't she have a name for a craft star? :-) )

I'm in love with her clean and neat style. Her cards look so good, it seems she barely touched the cardstock and paper. With mine, I am surprised that you can't see fingerprints on them sometimes. But working on it....gettin' better! :-)

Mother's Day Cards

Hello everybody from the sunny...ahmm....very rainy southern Texas right now :-) 

It rains maybe once a month here, this time on the day I wanted to take pictures of some cards! On the other side, I think the pictures taken on a cloudy day turn better, because the light is more uniform. Of course, on a rainy day it's tricky because not even the best camera can help you with some wet cards out there :-)  

I loved Laurie's Sketch #76 from the Weekend Sketch Challenge, so I made a Mother's Day card with it. 

Actually, I made a few Mother's Day cards, determined that this holiday won't sneak on me and catch me unprepared! :-)

Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration #49 {1}

I have a little bit of time in this busy Easter morning to post the pictures of the cards for the Kristina Werner's challenge.

I will come later today to fill in the blanks! :-)

All right, we went to church (to the late service...;-), we had our Easter lunch, desert and coffee, it's time to relax! :-)

I prepared a traditional Romanian Easter meal, with lamb in white wine and rosemary, poppy seed sweet bread, Easter eggs. We savored it! :-)

I didn't want to leave my post hanging, so I came back to write some details about the cards. 

I don't know what was this past week, but I have been on the edge with the card making. Never satisfied, nothing would come together quite right, one night I could almost cry! After comforting me (including getting me a Quickcutz Silhouette he he :-) ), my husband said these wise words :" Don't forget to enjoy it!"  

He was right, I wasn't enjoying it anymore. All I wanted is to get that PERFECT card that would leave everyone in awe! 

I want to go back to enjoying the simplest card that I make for someone dear! 

I have seen post about "struggles" on several blogs now. I am tempted to do some research (for the "old times of a former scientist"'s sake) about the "cycles of inspiration in the card makers species".       

This card was made in the midst of all that "drama" and it took several takes, until I decided on this simple layout.
